FX101.9 (CHFX-FM) launched in November 1947 is a FM station owned by Maritime Broadcasting System. Today’s Country is the slogan of the station. CHNS-FM is the sibling of the radio. In 1947 a 250 watt transmitter of The Halifax Herald Ltd., was approved thus creating CHNS-FM which started broadcasting in the November of the same year. FX101.9 switched its frequency from 92.3 to 96.1 MHz. The FM and AM stations of The Halifax Herald were affiliated with CBC Dominion Network in 1957. After the merger of CBC Dominion and Trans-Canada the channels became independent.

Effective radiated power was increased from 250 to 5,760 watts. The calls were changed from CHNS to CHFX in February 1970 followed by a change of frequency from 96.1 to 101.9 MHz and increment in ERP to 100,000 watts in May 1974. Maritime Broadcasting Co. Ltd and Eastern Broadcasting Ltd. were united into Maritime Broadcasting System Limited. In 1988. ERP was increased to 100,000 watts in June 1989 which was decreased to 91,000 watts in December 1996. Country 101 was rebranded as FX101.9 in December 2005. CRTC renewed the license for a seven year term on December 19, 2012 to August 21, 2019.
