News 95.7 launched on October 11, 2005 and legally known as CJNI-FM is a Halifax based station owned by Rogers Media. It is the only News and Talk radio in Atlantic Canada. The news, talk and sports radio operates on a frequency of 95.7 MHz with an ERP of 22,100 watts. CKNI, CHNI and CFLT-FM in Moncton, Saint John and Dartmouth are the sister stations. CRTC granted Rogers Broadcasting Ltd. the permissions on November 26, 2004 for the FM station which first signed on air on October 11, 2005 from the studios at 6080 Young Street.

Danny Kingsbury became the General Manager at CJNI 95.7 FM in 2009 after the death of Ted Rogers, the founder and Chief Executive of Rogers Communications. CRTC renewed the license of the CJNI-FM on March 28, 2013 until August 31, 2019 for a six year term. The proposed local programing was cut to 33% for each broadcast week. On November 6, 2013 the channel got into a deal with Sportsnet 590 The FAN to provide extensive sports coverage to the audiences in Halifax.
