CKJR- w1440 AM AlbertaW1440 also known by its call-sign CKJR is a Newcap Radio station based in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. The station from its beginning broadcasts at 1440 AM using a directional pattern during night hours and non-directional during daytime. Hits of the 50s, 60s, and 70s is the catch-phrase of the CKJR. The Oldies format station was launched in 1971 as CJOI with and ERP of 1000 watts. The call-sign got replace with a news one CKJR in 1994. Standard Broadcasting got its hand on station just to sell it out to Newcap and Rogers. The Hot Country format was shifted to Oldies in 2006 while the brand name Cat Country was changed to W1440 in 2006. You can listen to your favorite channel CKJR-AM online with official webcast.
