UMFM

UMFM 101.5 is a Winnipeg based Campus radio affiliated with University of Manitoba that broadcasts freeform music, spoken word and educational content to the listeners i.e. students at campus and community. The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) on October 2, 1997 granted the University’s Student Union a license to launch a volunteer-run station at 101.5 MHz using ERP of 1,200 watts. CJUM-FM made its first broadcasts on September 4, 1998. The license of the 101.5 FM was renewed to August 31, 2014 on August 7, 2007. The ownership of the UMFM has some balanced representation from the student body, volunteers at station, university administration, and representatives from community. The ownership was completely changed when CRTC approved the application from The University of Manitoba to acquire all the assets of the radio from Students Union.
