Kool 98

Kool 98, well known by its call sign CJYC-FM, is one of the most tuned radio stations of Canada, broadcasting in Saint John, New Brunswick. Initially, the foundation of the channel was laid down by the Fundy Broadcasting Co. Ltd. on March 12, 1965, as CFBC-FM.  Later on after 12 years on July 20, 1977, CRTC officially canceled the license of the CFBC, as it failed to meet the requirements set by the commission. It again applied for the authority to launch the station again and assured that it would take care of the standards. Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission again approved the application, and the channel went on-air again as FM 98. Later on, the call letters were changed to the CJYC-FM.  On August 30, 2006, CJYC adopted the Classic Rock format, and the branding was changed to the 98.9 Big John FM. During 2013, it again changed the format to Classic hit and took the branding name as Kool 98. Maritime Broadcasting System holds the rights of CJYC-FM along with its sister channels CFBC and CIOK. Former branding names also include the C98.
