880 CKLQ ManitobaCKLQ 880 is a Country station broadcasting form the region of Brandon, Manitoba covering the region of Westman Region. Riding Mountain Broadcasting, subsidiary of Westman Communications Group owns the station powered by ERP of 10,000 watts. The Greatest Country Hits of All Time and Westman’s Voice for News are the catch-phrases of the FM.  880 CKLQ was launched (on frequency 1570 kHz) in October 1977after Harry F. Davidson got the approval form CRTC.  In February 1984 the license of the station was renewed to September 30, 1989. In January 1985 the frequency was flipped from 1570 kHz to 880 kHz followed by the transmitter relocation to ensure strong signal and quality transmission. In 1997 the CKLQ celebrated its 20th anniversary.

In 1998 the effective control of the channel was changed allowing a 77% transfer to two existing and four new shareholders. In June, 2000 the owners launched a new station CKLF-FM in Brandon. Westman Media Co-operative Ltd entered the scene getting the transfer control of all the shares on September 2, 2003. In 2004 the authorities would install a new transmitter for CKLQ followed by a renewal on August 31, 2008 to August 31, 2015. Audiences can listen the news, sports, weather, Swap & Shop, Happy Linje, Media, events, contests, browse Classifieds and much more.
