More About CKLB 101.9 Radio

The terms proposed included weekend programing to be initiated once the CKNM complete its six moths operations. Three transmitters were allowed to rebroadcast in Kakiska, Arctic Red River and Rae Lakes at 101.9 MHz by CRTC in June 1986. In the next few years the radio network service broadened the organization with the launch of six new rebroadcasters and CHFP-FM, CHFS-FM and CHRR-FM in Fort Providence, Fort Smith and Hay River respectively. In February 1999 the station (CKNM) was renamed as CKLB-FM. Getting a deal successful with NWT Power Corporation in May 2008 the station would make a fresh start with increased ERP and better signal strength for the remote localities and undeserved communities of the NWT. Due to some financial setbacks the Radio 101.9 cut sized its staff and ended local and aboriginal programing for the First Nations in 2014.
