99.3 The Drive, well known on air by its call sign CKDV-FM, is among the list of most listened Canadian FM channel broadcasting in Prince George, British Columbia. In November 1944, CKPG Radio Limited was given approval for a new radio station, and it went on-air for the first time on February 8, 1946. CKPG was started as an AM channel on 1230 kHz and as an affiliate of the CBC’s Trans-Canada Network. On December 21, 2000, the current owner of the CKDV, Jim Pattison Ltd, acquired the CKPG Radio and TV after getting authorization from the CRTC. In the start of the January, CRT approved the application to convert the channel from AM to FM. The new FM channel on aired on 99.3 MHz frequency with effective radiated power of 9,300 watts. On May 30, 2000, CKPG-AM became CKDV-FM, with branding 99.3 The Drive. The format was also altered from news-talk to classic rock format. The slogan of Drive Prince George FM is “Prince George’s Greatest Hits”.
