97.5 The River, also well known by its call sign CKRV-FM, is one of the top Canadian FM stations working in Kamloops, British Columbia. In 1983, CRTC granted Hal Yerxa of Camrose, AB a license to on air a new radio station in Kamloops. Then in 1984, the River got on the air for the first time with the call sign CHRK-FM. Till its beginning, it has been acquired by different owners. In 1989, Newcap Broadcasting purchased the rights of 97.5 The River. In 1993, NL Broadcasting, the current owner of CKRV-FM, acquired 97.5 The River Kamloops and changed the call letter to its current one, CKRV-FM. Till 2010, the station used to play hot adult contemporary (Hot AC) and Easy Listening content. In 2015, it moved to a Variety Hits format with a slogan of “80’s, 90’s & WOW!”. Mike Evenson was a very famous morning show host who died in a car accident on Dec 4, 2014
