Vague FM 88. 1 Franco-Ontarian community radio owned by Radio-Huronie and established in 1988. The not-for-profit community station was launched after the approval of CRTC in 1988. Radio-Huronie cooperative had previously produced some community interest content for the CBC rebroadcaster CJBC-FM-3 (CJBC 860 AM) at Penetanguishine before obtaining a license for one of its own. Before the launch of CFRH-FM, CRTC approved CJBC-AM to set up a local studio to get locally produced content. CRTC approved Radio Huronie’s application to set up a French language community FM in the area. Vague FM would broadcast on a frequency of 101.9 MHz with repeaters in Midland, Perkinsfield and Lafontaine.

The cooperative had initially proposed 126 hour per week content with 29 hours dedicated to spoken word. In Feb 1999 a decision approved by CRTC resulted in an intra-corporate reorganization proceeding the acquiring of CFRH by La Clé d’la Baie en Huronie, Association culturelle francophone. The frequency change to 88.1 MHz and increase in ERP was also approved from 101.9 to 88.1 MHz and 4,493 w respectively. After the changes the French language Vague would need no satellites. The commission further approved increase in the effective radiated power to 8,600 w in Aug 2005. A relay transmitter @ 106.7 FM was at Barrie was also allowed by commission in Nov 2013.
